Alisha Sharma Counselling Therapist (Intern)
Hello and welcome! I’m Alisha, a counselling intern dedicated to supporting individuals through a compassionate, collaborative, and client-centred approach. I am currently completing my Master of Education in Counselling at Acadia University and am completing my practicum placement at True North Psychological Services in Halifax through spring 2027, under the supervision of Hilary Stephenson and Mark Baigent.
My approach to counselling is grounded in strengths-based, client-centred, and culturally sensitive care. I believe that clients are the experts in their own experiences and that meaningful therapeutic work begins with creating a relationship built on trust, respect, collaboration, and genuine curiosity. I have experience supporting children and youth, neurodivergent individuals, and individuals navigating anxiety, stress, self-esteem, identity, relationships, and life transitions. I am particularly interested in working with adolescents and young adults as they navigate changes in identity, relationships, school, work, and other transitions into adulthood. I also recognize the ways that culture, family, and broader systems can shape our experiences and strive to incorporate these considerations into our work together.
